Ment is a software that relies on analytics to help organizations make more informed and transparent decisions based on input from various members of the organizations. It relies on discussion forums where different users ask their questions and different members of the organization add their responses to the questions. This allowed them to interact with members with their team and Ment analyzed these answers to identify which one is supported the most.

2. Competitors

Ment’s competitors includes companies that are designing productive and collaboration softwares and knowledge management tools. Collaboration softwares allowed employees to communicate with each other. It allows organizations to streamline their operations and boost productivity. These softwares are being relied on more as time progresses and as companies have started relying on virtual meetings due to their added benefits. Moreover, the pandemic also led to an increased reliance on virtual meeting softwares as in-person meetings were reduced. Rosenberg believed that Ment was in the same market as slack and hence was competing for the same market share as slack was.

3. Company founding

Rosenberg came with the idea of Ment while he was the deputy head analyst in the Israeli military’s intelligence operations. Since he already had an analytical background, it helped in supporting the idea of Ment. He believed that current computerized systems were not capable of identifying human observations. After leaving the military, he worked on a business plan to implement his idea and he received funding to start his company.

He developed Epistema, a software that was capable of creating knowledge maps that were a visual representation of information in an organization. Epistema’s purpose was to improve how knowledge was shared and integrated within the organization. Although the software gained success as many organizations were interested in using the software, the slowly turned away from the idea as they felt more comfortable with writing documents than creating knowledge maps. Rosenberg’s software was implemented by the bank, but he noticed that the software required a lot of the client’s time to make sure it runs properly. However, they did not have this time as they were a major bank and Rosenberg ended up scrapping the pilot program.

Rosenberg came up with a new idea that targeted smaller companies and they improved the software by allowing it to create knowledge maps itself through discussion forums. They did this by designing online discussions which were incorporated into the software and the algorithm would analyze the data to identify patterns.
