The major factor that created an opportunity for Reiss was the success of Trivial Pursuit in Canada. While observing market trends, Reiss expected that sales of trivia games could be 10 times more in the U.S than in Canada due to substantial demand for such games in the U.S but realized that demand is going to be unmet in the upcoming Christmas season due to insufficient capacity. There were only two dominant players in the U.S gaming industry, so Reiss found the market to be open for new concepts. Other than that, Reiss’ direct contacts with stores, vast knowledge of the gaming market, consultancy experience of adult gaming products also enabled him to exploit an opportunity. Reiss spotted a window of opportunity to introduce TV themed trivia game in the U.S because Americans spend most of their time watching TV (Reiss, 2001).
