In the Olympics, a player couldn't be self-centered and needed to be there for the team. Volleyball also required commitment and character. The players need to have humility, where they are ready to develop and learn. They need to be able to handle stressful situations, be optimistic, and see beyond their self-interests.

The coach’s decision will greatly impact how the team performs in the Olympics. For the organization, this means that whether the team would be secure a medal or not. The decision also impacts the players that are selected and the ones that are not selected. The players that are selected would have a feeling of responsibility where they need to perform to prove themselves and make it to the core team in the next Olympics. They would have a feeling of accomplishment, where they become more motivated as they made it to the Olympics, which is a big thing in itself. The players that are not selected may become demotivated, and the coach needs to communicate to them the reasons for them not being selected.
